PORTABLE POWER, CORDLESS CONVENIENCE
Rating: 5
The Hyper Tough Model #AQ80022G is a good basic circular saw. Great for any number of my many projects and ready for my first outdoor job without quick access to power. I had an old garden trellis that I wanted to remove and replace. Using this saw made the work go very fast and was easy to manage. It solved the problem of my having to run an extension cord from the house into the backyard, a definite trip hazard. All the broken wooden slats were taken down, cut, and packed for disposal in just one morning. I could do everything myself, no need to wait for a contractor to show up and charge me for a job I can now handle on my own. This project was on the small side, but so far, no problems with the saw itself, its 6½ inch blade, or the staying power of the Lithium battery. I'm happy with the results. Hint: If you are new to circular saws, be sure to read all of Hyper Tough's guidelines. They also have an electronic version of their manual on Walmart's website. More: There are a couple of How-To videos that you can find online.

Hyper Tough Cordless Circular Saw
Rating: 5
We are slowly switching all our workbench and garden tools to cordless (powered by battery). The Hyper Tough HT 20V 6-1/2-Inch Cordless Circular Saw is the newest addition to our family. The Hyper Tough Circular Saw is lightweight and powerful for getting the job done. Not only is the saw effortless to use but it's fast with plenty of control which makes easy to handle for both me and my husband. Not having to worry about plugging it in makes it convenient to use most anywhere. The Hyper Tough Cordless Circular Saw comes complete with the battery and the charger. It's the perfect addition for all our creative needs and I honestly think it will make a great gift too. Gift wrap it for birthdays, Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day and even weddings!

Great performance!
Rating: 5
This works great! The bottom of our hot water tank rusted out & started leaking. By the time I realized this last week, the damage was already done. My husband used this saw to cut through plywood, 2X4's, even sheet rock!! We were really impressed by the performance & would definitely recommend this to a friend!

Can hold its own
Rating: 5
The Hyper Tough 20V 6-1/2-Inch Circular Saw is really quite nice. I have wanted a small circular saw for a couple years now because the others are very heavy for women. This lightweight saw and cordless convenience is absolutely perfect for me. It doesn't get much better than that. My reciprocating saw can't do everything so for some of my projects a circular saw is necessary. For a woman, my work bench is beginning to look like a man's work bench. I am proud of myself for learning to do these home improvement jobs on my own. It is great that companies are forward thinking enough to make power tools smaller, lighter and battery-operated. I highly recommend this circular saw to anyone especially us dedicated, highly motivated DIYers. This little saw can stand up to its big brothers any day.

Great circular saw
Rating: 5
Very light weight and convenient. Comes with a nice carry case. Very easy to handle and use. The only thing I found that would make this a better deal is if it came with 2 batteries that way you could use 1 while charging the other. This saw is worth the price.

Nifty Cordless Circular Saw!
Rating: 5
I have an old corded circular saw that I wanted to replace. I was going to buy another corded one, but when this model became available I decided to give it a try. In the box, there was the circular saw already assembled. It did come with a charger, and one 20v Lithium ion battery. I charged the battery first (took about 2.5 hrs). Then I decided to try it out. The saw definitely had enough power to do the job of sawing. On this part, it performed similar to my older corded saw (I was worried it might be underpowered, but it was not). But for me, the best part about this saw is that it is cordless! I can't tell you how happy I am with the freedom to take this saw anywhere. No more dragging that long extension cord! I am very happy with this product and would recommend this to a friend or family member.

Heavy Duty for a Small Saw
Rating: 5
Made of heavy material and seems to work very well. Easy battery change and charge, as well as the blade. A lot of rpm and I couldn't tell the difference between my plug in saw. The blade is very sharp and cuts smoothly with no binding. Haven't used the cut guide but it fits solid when locked down. Handle on the front let's me use two hands after I clamp down the wood. Charged in less than two hours and the charger is great. Lights change during the charge cycle to let you know when it's fully charged. Used it for about an hour and it still cut like it was fully charged. The only thing that needs improvement is the blade guard. It works good and it is clear heavy plastic but only time will tell if it is solid. I would hate to drop it. This would be the first thing to break. But overall a great saw.

Great for DIYers
Rating: 4
This is a great tool for DIYers who just need a circular saw every now and then. I wouldn't expect to use it to build a deck, but it does great for projects here and there like putting up shelves, etc. This is mainly due to it's small battery size and the fact that Hyper Tough does not offer any batteries larger than 2.5 amp hours. That said, the 20v nominal battery (it's actually 18v, but another tool company holds a patent on batteries that are 18v) has enough power to easily rip a 2x4. I really like that it is battery powered and has all of the features you would expect from a circular saw like depth and bevel adjustment. It also has an adjustable guide that clamps into the frame of the saw to keep your cuts straight. The carrying bag is also a huge plus since it fits everything, including the charger and adjustable guide and most other tools don't even come with one. The only issue I had was that the allen wrench (hex key) for the bolt that holds the blade on was missing. I'm a heavy DIYer so I had one that fit, but that could really be an issue for someone who may not have a set or the right size.

Handy but limited
Rating: 4
This little portable circular saw is perfect for remote places or quick light to medium cuts around shop. It charges quickly but battery is on small size so not a lot of heavy or continuous sawing without spare battery. These small saws require a good sharp and straight blade to work properly. Glides through 1/2” plywood like butter. 2x6 and up require a little patience. Must let tool do its job and not try to force. Overall a good saw. Lord knows the times I wished I had one and didn't.

Great for homeowner/need better quality control
Rating: 3
I really enjoy using this saw for light duty tasks. I've used only full-sized corded circular saws for more than a few decades now ,and the contrast is remarkable. Not only is the weight difference huge, but the noise output of this saw is far less than the corded saws I've owned for years. (I would never use my old saws without hearing protection, even for just one cut. This Hyper Tough model is a different story. It's not quiet, but it's really not too bad.) I've only made about 10 cuts with it so far, just to test it out, so I can't speak to the battery life yet. Make sure to give your new saw a careful inspection right after purchase . See the included pictures. You are looking at the side ridge of the steel-base "shoe", right out of the box. I can't tell whether they carelessly painted over some sort of debris at the factory or there is rust bubbling up under the black paint. This was how it was right out of the box. It' seems to be a decent little light duty saw but I repeat: Check yours out right away.

GAME CHANGER
Rating: 5
This monster is a million times better than the makita that we've all been forced to use because there was really no alternative. The blade position and larger table make it so much easier to operate and make precise cuts. Combined with the dust expulsion, being 5 lbs. lighter, and saving $100, I see no reason why anybody would choose the antiquated relic from years past. Skil has done a great job with re-inventing the beam saw and the travel case is the icing on the cake! So happy I pulled the trigger and bought this game changer which I am certain will make me more productive, efficient and the envy of the entire job site,( probably get a raise as well!) It's easy to zero out and adjustments if need be . Had it for not even a week and I've got other carpenters trying to rent it from me, sorry bro this is one tool I don't lend to anyone except my mentor who I know will treat it with the same respect I give it! Well done Skil! And thank you!

Skilsaw 16 5/16" Super Sawsquatch
Rating: 5
I was a little intimidated at the size of this saw at first but after the first cut through my project cedar 4"x10" cedar I feel in love. The ergonomics and balance and power are all well balanced. It had not trouble with the worm drive to power through any cut. I do not regret buying it and am looking forward to the next time I use it.

powerful smooth cutting circular saw
Rating: 5
This large saw allows me to cut straight through 4x4 or even 6x6 lumber with only one pass. It will even cut a 4x4 at a 45 degree angle. The worm gear drive is powerful and tends not to kick with proper feed. The included quick latch down stand makes transport easy without scratching my truck.

It's everything I thought it would be.

Not much to say. If you want to do a good job on beam work this is the only way. Super good saw. Works well. Handles great considering the size. Its also surprisingly light.

Awesome Saw
Rating: 5
The saw is awesome good power, nice balance. Being able to place the auxiliary handle in different positions is very useful. I changed blades for a better crosscut, blade that comes with the saw would be good for ripping, stock blade has too much tear out for crosscutting.

Beats Makita Hands Down
Rating: 5
While we haven't had a huge amount of time to try out the capabilities of this saw, we have been able to use it long enough to see that Skilsaw has done its homework when breaking into the market with this 16- 5/16" beam saw. We are one of the leading timber frame companies on the East coast. We still craft all of our frames with circular saws, mallets and chisels. The majority of our timbers are Douglas Fir in sizes ranging from 4" up to 14". The Sawsquatch allows for a cutting depth of 6 1/4", which is standard to this size of saw. Some PROS: *The saw is very lightweight at 27 lbs. to make long work days much easier in toting around a large beam saw. Even our Business Manager was able to pick up the saw and use it for the first demo cuts! *The arbor bolt does not over tighten, thus allowing the blade to move smoothly and not bind up. *The saw stand is incredible, also lightweight and allows the saw to clamp directly on to the stand to easily transport the saw across the shop. *The saw offers two handle positions - one for straight cuts and one that makes bevel cuts much easier. *The worm drive allows for much more power in the cutting process. *Easy setup right out of the box with a wrench that attaches directly to the saw base. *No need to purchase an additional $400 saw base that was needed on the old and new Makita saws. Some CONS: *It is more difficult to see the back of the blade for cutting and following a line. We will continue to look for ways to make this work. *The cutout on the saw base for the blade is quite wide, which may cause a problem if the amount you are cutting off the beam is smaller. This cutout will want to lodge in that opening. Again, we will follow up on this item. *Unsure of repair abilities over time with accessibility to parts, etc. but assume that they will be available. CONCLUSION: This saw is one of the best we have seen and will certainly be joined by others over the years. We currently own (3) old Makita beam saws that we are finding it difficult to find parts and pieces for repair. I'm sure our supply will begin to have many more Skilsaw tools in it! We also highly recommend their 10- 1/4" circular saw as well. We will update as we continue to use the saw.

It's a quiet beast!
Rating: 5
This saw cuts thick wood like butter! Very smooth cuts. The design and storage case are solid. It's large but easy to handle. If you need to cut thick wood (3-inch plus). My first experience with Skil was over 35 years ago with house framing and truss building. This saw seems to be true to the standard Skil set years ago.

Amazing saw
Rating: 5
after seeing other reviews I purchased this beam saw. It may be large but I truly was impressed not by the amazing features but how it powered through various thick boards with precision to help me finish some of my projects. I now have many more projects lined up to replacing some large beams in my very old house.

We are using the saw to cut PT rough sawn 6x6's and 8x8's for timber retaining walls, bridges, and docks. Has great balance, weight, and power.

Another beam saw
Rating: 3
My rating is preliminary. I have cut timbers for set of timber trusses. The saw is a bit noisy compared to Makita. It has sufficient power and the sole plate is great, much better than Makitas . I have had same size Makitas for almost 40 years. Remarkable stamina but shoddy sole plates and is direct drive with blade on wrong hand for me. Happy to have Skil but the test is how long it will run. I have had a Skil 7 1/4 since 1965 and it never faltered. As professional builder I use power saws a lot. I have 20 circular saws. The Bosch as Skil actually showed some improvements in design and has held up . I will write more after I have cut out this 50X70 roof and the rest of timberframe shop. Skil beam saw will be first line of action cutting all green Lutz spruce, 6X8 through 12. Happy with saw so far.
