My next Jigsaw after a Craftsman for 40+ years!
Rating: 5
Initial unpacking and checking out all the features ... looks like it will perform up to the high customer reviews I read online!

It's Solid
Rating: 5
I haven't had a chance to use it too much yet but my initial impression is very positive. It has some weight to it and I like that in a jig saw to keep things steady. When looking at different models this one seemed to have a heaftier blade release/retention lever. It has a much longer cord than my previous jig saws which is nice. Adjustment knobs are convenient. I may add more once I've had the chance to run it through some different materials.

EXCELLENT!
Rating: 5
I own several Bosh tools including two jigsaws. One I used exclusively and the other I loaned to friends. Well, recently, one vanished and the other developed a "hesitation-stutter" after many years of hard use. I came across the new JS470E just as I was commissioned for a rush job at a church building an 8' W x 10' H x 6" D cross of sapele mahogany. Divine Intervention! A wonderful, powerful tool. Of course, there had to be some adversity...the Adversary works hard, too! The first time I inserted a blade I didn't fully insert and ground it. So of course it shot out like a missile during the very first cut! After that, though, everything went like cake. Again, a beautiful tool!

Nice!
Rating: 5
I have used several consumer-grade saber saws in the past and even one Craftsman "professional" grade. I never had a lot of luck getting a quality cut. Then I bought the JS470E. At first the cut I was getting wasn't much better than what I had experienced with all the others. Then I noticed I did not turn on the orbital cut action. What a difference. Perfectly straight cuts! The blade change mechanism is a dream to use. The tool is a bit on the heavy side, but the added heft really dampens vibration. Definitely reccomend it.

Love this saw, I use it a lot to cut metal and it works perfectly, I've only used it up to 1/8" but it eats thru it. The one feature I like a lot is the drive roller right behind the blade which keeps the blade from bending. But overall I'm impressed with it completely.

Controlable power
Rating: 5
I purchased the JS470 to replace a much older jigsaw which was underpowered and uncontrollable. I needed to make cuts under control and precisely on 8/4 stock that was too large for my bandsaw. I read all the reviews and purchased the Bosch. I'm not disappointed! I'm a big fan.

Great Hole Cutter
Rating: 5
I purchased the Bosch JS470E to replace my old jig saw. I was making a unique piece of art for my yard that needed many different sized holes cut in it. This jig saw worked wonderfully in all my hole cutting. I'm on to other new projects that I can use my new saw for. Love the heftiness and stability of the saw.

Great Jig Saw
Rating: 5
Needed a new jig saw to replace my 46 year old one. The blade holder holds the blade straight and true with no wobble or twisting. At last I can saw a straight plumb line. Very well balanced and easy to hold. It is now a pleasure to be able to saw with precision.

Great Jigsaw
Rating: 5
I have had an old "plastic" jig saw for over 35 years and hated to use it because it would skip all over the place and didn't cut well. We were visiting a friend recently and he showed me this saw and I was impressed so I bought one and it is great. The weight of the saw is more substantial than my old saw and it cuts like a dream. The blades are easy to change and the dust blower works great. True, it would be nice to have a light to make cutting easier, but I can live without the light because the saw does everything else I need it to do with minimal effort.

Rugged and Powerful Saw
Rating: 4
Without using this jigsaw extensively yet, I can attest to the power, speed control and overall solid feel to this tool. I would give it five stars but were it not for the overall heavy weight, lack of guide or laser and edge/circle cutter accessory. I can live without a laser guide, but it would be a nice addition. Holding and starting the heavy saw is somewhat awkward but I am getting used to it. As far as the circle cutter, I am unimpressed with the cheap construction and inaccuracy, yet I will make use of it as a more reliable edge guide. Overall, this is a saw to grow with and build on. Getting over 30 years from a cheaper less powerful competitor, I feel I made it to the 'Big Leagues' and will be able to achieve many years of reliable performance.

This product is simple to use
Rating: 5
I am a finish carpenter and do mostly kitchen installations. I find a missing feature to be an advantage... The saw has no orbital cut motion it prevents chip out and splintering if the material which is better for the finish work. I love this tool

Like it a lot!
Rating: 5
A basic jig saw that does 95% of what needs done really well. Doesn't have the bevel setting but seldom need that option any way. It's ergonomic feel is well balanced and I find it is better than most jig saws on the market. Very happy with it!

This along with all Rigid tools are great products

I own this Jig saw head along with all the job max tools. They are all great and with the Lifetime Warranty there is not better deal on the market. I would highly recommend any and all Rigid tools

Blade guide roller
Rating: 4
Great tool to use for home projects. Only issue I noticed is that the blade guide roller is about 0.5 cm misaligned from the blade clamp assembly causing wear on the blade.

Very good, not great
Rating: 4
I have many Ridgid tools which are top level in terms of durability and function. The JobMax is a small step below this level. The balance, power, versatility and function of the jig saw head is quite good but not great. Mine is new (≈9/2015) and I have not noted the the safety switch issue that others have; it is on or off and stays in that position. Mine is the corded unit and it does not seem to lack power for an appropriate jig saw purpose. Where this tool really shines is having several good power tools in one small, light tool bag. The cat's meow when traveling in a small truck camper.

Bi-Direction Lock Off Lever Problem
Rating: 1
The Bi-Directional Lock Out Lever is not an operator friendly design. It really requires one hand to activate it while the other hand is holding the tool. A lock out lever like the one on the Reciprocating Saw Head makes more sense. Or, no lock out lever is preferable. I like the ergonomics of the jig saw itself, but the bi-directional lock out caused me to return the head. It really needs to be redesigned. I have other heads for the JobMax and I do like them.
by TXFM08 on 2014-01-21T16:00:00

Not well suited for battery powered jobmax handle.
Rating: 1
The jigsaw consumes so much power that it basically runs the battery down ~three times faster than I can charge a 18v battery. Batteries are <12 old with light use. Nifty concept and all but I returned it and bought a dedicated (corded) jigsaw (for only ~$10 more than this attachment.) It did seem to work fine otherwise., It is Just not well matched with a cordless device. Ridgid really should somehow recommend this attachment be use with the corded handle only or risk more dissatisfied customers.
by erichtg on 2015-08-31T17:00:00

It requires three hands to work with.
Rating: 1
I found it to time consuming messing with it maybe if you had it all one hand ✋ friendly like the first reviewer said. I returned mine as well.
